Virtual FEAT Walk Saturday SEPTEMBER 19 2020 We are going virtual! The safety of FEAT Families and their friends comes first during the COVID-19 pandemic, so we are transitioning to a VIRTUAL experience where members of households sheltering together during the pandemic may safely walk for 30 minutes in their own neighborhood while following current social distancing guidelines. Anytime during the week of September 12-19, Registered Participants may join FEAT Walk wherever you are, whenever you can, to walk and raise critically needed funds for Families for Early Autism Treatment’s work with local families living with autism. Donate : If you cannot participate in the virtual walk this year, please consider donating to support FEAT’s work providing education, support and advocacy resources to local families living with autism. Our seventh annual FEAT Walk will be held “VIRTUALLY” to unite family members, friends, volunteers and providers in a safe virtual walk respecting social distancing that raises funds for Families for Early Autism Treatment-FEAT, a 501 (c)(3) organization. FEAT receives no state or federal funding and relies solely on individual and business donations to continue providing the following support to families living with the daily challenges of autism. When FEAT began 27 years ago, the prevalence of autism was one in 10,000. Today autism spectrum disorder affects one in 50 children. FEAT continues to advocate for solutions to parents' challenging questions: As children with autism age out of school, where will they continue to grow academically and develop their social skills? Where will they receive job training and employment? Where will they live when aging parents are unable to meet their needs? FEAT educates families via Parent Workshops and Family Resource Meetings featuring experts covering complex topics parents need to learn about in order to navigate and cope with daily life, while also fighting hard for their child’s right to receive best outcome treatment and support. FEAT advocates for children with autism while volunteer FEAT Coaches train their parents to become their most informed and effective advocates. FEAT is working to increase vitally important social connections for families, who often are caught in a cycle of tremendous stress and isolation. As circumstances surrounding COVID-19 improve, annual events such as FEAT Family Day at Bishop's Pumpkin Farm will resume.
